Lucia Tallova
Lives and works in Bratislava. Graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava. Tallova manipulates gallery spaces by recreating their architecture. The resulting environment consists of various elements, providing the viewer with a feeling of estrangement caused by something oversized. Tallova’s work is based on the conceptualization of emotional processes related to perception, preparation, memory, and the circumstances in which they are shared.
Through her research, she contrasts the imagery derived from her personal experiences with the specific two-dimensional knowledge found in photographs, books, or diaries. She loses and recovers her identity through post-production, working on the archaeology of her own materials and those of others. In doing so, she appropriates methods and historical concepts. This form of manipulation primarily aims to provoke an original and emotional reaction from the viewer.
She has participated in various solo and group exhibitions, such as “I’m the Land, You Are the Sea” at the SODA Gallery in Bratislava, “Island of Time” at the Tezukayama Gallery in Osaka, Japan, and Tatr(o)man at the Gallery of The Czech Centers in Prague, Czech Republic. Her works are part of several collections worldwide, including the Slovak National Gallery and the WAP Art Foundation in Korea.
