Pascal Hachem’s first solo show in São Paulo

31 May, 2025

Pascal Hachem Opens His First Solo Exhibition in São Paulo at Karla Osorio Gallery

“Whispering Sky” debuts on May 30, bringing over 40 works by the Lebanese artist, exploring memory, politics, and popular culture, during his artistic residency in Brazil between September and November 2024.

Art as Urban and Political Narrative

Internationally recognized, Pascal Hachem transforms the tensions of daily life and urban environments into poetic, thought-provoking sculptures and installations. Born in Beirut, the artist uses memory-laden objects and everyday gestures to create works that reflect on control, chaos, and resilience in uncertain times.

In “Whispering Sky”, Hachem bridges the cultural and social landscapes of the Middle East and Latin America, offering a sensitive dialogue in a moment marked by global conflicts. His materials include beads, kites, and embroidery — traditional Brazilian crafts made in collaboration with the Encanto das Artes Recanto das Emas collective and other local artisans.

About the Exhibition “Whispering Sky”

The show delves into the complexity of human existence and the everyday narratives that shape how we see the world. The works question how much we control our actions and who truly defines our gestures.

Inspired by the unpredictability of life in Beirut and striking impressions from his stay in Brazil, Hachem creates pieces that explore the contrasts between the fleeting and the permanent, violence and tenderness. Elements like kites slicing through the sky, decorated tools, and repurposed materials appear as metaphors for resilience and memory.

He has exhibited at institutions such as Desert X AlUla, Victoria & Albert Museum (London), Fondazione Mario Merz (Turin), and Gwangju Museum of Art (South Korea), and his works are part of major public and private collections.
