Daniel Escobar

Daniel Escobar’s research (Santo Ângelo, Brazil, 1982) focuses on representations of urban spaces and on the appropriations of the city and its materials. The artist, who lives and works in Porto Alegre, creates collages, overlays and objects with materials appropriated from the urban environment, reconfiguring them to reflect on the relationship between the space and its inhabitants, consumerism, and the public and private spheres.

Awarded twice for the Prêmio Açorianos de Artes Plásticas (2006 and 2016), his work is featured in prominent Brazilian collections, such as Fundação Iberê Camargo (Porto Alegre); Museu de Arte da Pampulha (Belo Horizonte); Museu de Arte do Rio Grande do Sul (Porto Alegre); Museu de Arte Contemporânea do Paraná (Curitiba) and Coleção de Arte da Cidade de São Paulo.
